Real People Don't Fake Success!

Updated: Sep 10

Jer 29:11

I do not think I have ever heard the word “SUCCESS” diminished from a person in any generation that wanted to make their mark in the world. The question has always been, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Whatever the answer was, it equaled – success. The question about adulthood never ends there: it continues –

“What college/university are you going to attend, what degree of study, two or four year, graduate studies?”

“Will you become a doctor, lawyer, or teacher?”

“Do you have a boy/girlfriend?”

“Are you engaged, when is the wedding?”

“Do you want children and how many?”

“Are you pregnant yet, when is the due date?”

“Are you renting or buying…….!!!”

Wow! The word “Success’ comes with so many questions; no wonder there are so many variations of success!

Webster defines success:

1) degree or measure of succeeding

2) favorable or desired outcome and

3) attainment of wealth, favor or eminence.

Was personal or family success considered an obligation to you or others?

Since we are shedding how success was defined at an early age, let’s break down success to make it personal – to answer every question about success to calm our nerves and others’ questioning our future success or questions from our future successors.

SUCCESS should always include:

SERENITY

Clear/free of storms or unpleasant change (BE FLEXIBLE WITH CHANGE)

Dr. Richard J. Krejcir says, “flexibility helps us see the big picture, how people and events are all interlinked with a Sovereign God at the controls."

SOLITUDE

Being cut off by one’s wish or circumstances from usual associates (DELEGATE TO DESTRESS)

Oxygen Magazine gives five health benefits of solitude:

1) You gain clarity – allows you to clear your mind of mental chatter and get to the root of a problem/issue without distractions from the outside world

2) boosts creativity

3) reduces stress

4) allows connection with your spirituality and

5) renews your energy.

SUCCESSOR

One that follows (PASSING OF THE TORCH – LEGACY)

Wil Heath says, “Having a successor gives us:

1) pattern to follow

2) a dream doesn’t end with one person

3) a change in identity and

4) a desire for people.

SMILING

Pleasant/Agreeable with your assignment (APPROVAL OF YOUR SUCCESS THUS FAR)

Smiling is:

1) contagious

2) elevates your mood and

3) changes the mood of others.

Of the four (serenity, solitude, successor or smiling) which attribute is missing from your preliminary success test, if you are truthful?

Rom 15:1 - Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. 2 Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For even the Messiah did not please Himself.

This is our obligation for and to success! Wow, makes you look at success quite differently, huh?!

Question:

Do you still feel obligated to be successful by the world’s “success scale?

Summary

Let’s be honest, as long as we live on earth, there will be a sliding scale on success according to the world’s standards. However, as a King’s Kid, our success is according to the one and only True King; therefore, success is measured by His standard and not the world. He predestined our success prior to our birth, as a child, and through adulthood. Our heavenly Father ensured we would be successful - if we accept it.

No matter what type of upbringing we had, God ensured a messenger would pour into you things that would train you for your success in the kingdom.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:28-31

Notice, I mentioned your upbringing, whether good, bad or indifferent; God will use all of it for your success; Our Father will recycle your trash into holy treasure. Your training will teach you to persevere to not give up!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

This scripture should actually be in the beginning of the summary but it’s last to tie in the most important items! God’s thoughts of your success started years prior to your birth, He already knew when you would be born, where you would go to school or whether you would even attend, he knew your decisions, your consequences, your repentance and deliverance. He TRAINED you in your childhood and your training TAUGHT you that your success was already THOUGHT of by Him, through Him and in Him. We just have to accept and receive it!

REMEMBER…

Rom 15:1 - Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves. 2 Each one of us must please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3 For even the Messiah did not please Himself.

NOW, AGAIN…

Question:

Do you still feel obligated to be successful by the world’s “success scale?

Now, get out there and be s.u.c.c.e.s.s.ful, your overachiever!
